Michael Burt, a 6-foot-6 and 230-pound tight end out of Omaha, Nebraska (Creighton Preparatory School) has chosen Iowa over another B1G program.

Burt committed to the Hawkeyes over Nebraska, and the likes of Eastern Michigan and Illinois. Burt is ranked the No. 62 tight end in the Class of 2024, and the No. 9 player in the state of Nebraska, according to 247Sports. This announcement came after Burt visited both Iowa and Nebraska this month.

Burt is the 12th commitment for Iowa in this recruiting cycle.

Here’s his announcement:

I want to first start off by thanking God for
blessing me with this amazing opportunity and
giving me the ability to do what I love. Second,
I want to thank my amazing parents, siblings
and family who have sacrificed so much for
me to be here today. I wouldn’t be who I am
without all their help, pushing me, encouraging
me and being by my side on this journey. Next,
I want to thank all the coaches and trainers
who have impacted me in every sport. Thank
you to all the Creighton Prep coaches and
community who have helped me grow as a
person. I also want to thank my teammates for
pushing me everyday to limits I couldn’t reach
alone. Lastly, I want to thank my friends and
everyone who has supported me over the
years. I am grateful for all of you.
With that being said I am extremely honored to
announce I have committed to the University
of lowa to continue my academic and football
career. Go Hawkeyes!!
