Iowa linebacker Nick Niemann is off the board.
With the sixth round getting kicked off, the Los Angeles Chargers made the move and grabbed Niemann with the No. 185 overall pick. That was the first pick of the sixth round and was the second linebacker selected by the Chargers. Los Angeles also selected Duke OLB Chris Rumph II in the fourth round.

Niemann really made the most of his senior season in 2020. The four-year player for the Hawkeyes led the team with 77 total tackles in eight games played. That brought his career total to 155 tackles, including 7.5 TFL, two sacks, and an interception.
Listed at 6-foot-4, Niemann has good size for the position. It will be interesting to see if he is able to carve out a role for himself as an inside linebacker with the Chargers or if a change in role will be necessary. He joins fellow Hawkeye stars Ihmir Smith-Marsette and Daviyon Nixon as 2021 draft picks with those two coming off the board in the fifth round.
