Noah Shannon will no longer be attending B1G Media Days. Shannon released a statement that was posted by 247Sports’ David Eickholt on social media on Wednesday.

B1G Media Days will be on July 26-27 in Indianapolis at Lucas Oil Stadium.

Shannon stated that it was an honor to represent Iowa at the event, but with the Iowa sports gambling investigation still going on he felt it was best to have someone else go in his place.

Being selected to represent the Iowa Hawkeye football team at Big Ten Media Day is a tremendous honor and privilege. I am grateful for the opportunity. However, given the circumstances I told Coach Ferentz it would best for him to select another player. Since the NCAA review is not yet complete, I don’t feel it is right for me to represent the team.

Linebacker Jay Higgins will be taking Shannon’s place at the podium. Shannon is one of the 26 student-athletes from Iowa being investigated. Athletes from football, baseball, men’s basketball, and men’s track and field were named in the investigation.

Iowa athletics announced that they would be fully cooperating with the NCAA’s investigation back in May.

Tradition will keep you posted if more Iowa football players decide to not attend B1G Media Days because of the investigation.
