Iowa has added a quarterback to the 2022 recruiting class.

The Hawkeyes received a verbal pledge from 3-star quarterback Carson May out of Oklahoma. The 6-foot-5, 210-pound gunslinger made his announcement with a post on social media. He became the sixth player in the 2022 class to commit to Iowa.

“Special thanks to Coach O’Keefe and Coach Ferentz for believing in an Oklahoma Kid and the opportunity to play at a place like Iowa,” May wrote on Twitter. “Committed! Go Hawkeyes!”

May comes from Jones, Oklahoma and is ranked as the No. 18 player from his home state and the No. 82 quarterback, per 247Sports. He does not yet have any Composite rankings from the website.

During the 2020 season, May threw for 3,007 yards and 26 touchdowns with just 5 interceptions while also rushing for 650 yards and 14 touchdowns on 129 carries. He’s thrown for over 5,000 yards and rushed for 900 more while accounting for 67 total touchdowns over the past two seasons.

May’s teams are 19-5 over the past two seasons.

Iowa beat Old Dominion and Western Michigan for May’s commitment. He joins a Hawkeyes class that currently ranks No. 57 nationally.
