An Iowa preferred walk-on linebacker is looking for other opportunities to play college football, according to a report.

David Eickholt of HawkeyeInsider.com reported that linebacker Willie O’Hara has entered his name in the NCAA transfer portal and is seeking other opportunities. O’Hara came to the Hawkeyes from Iowa Western Community College as a walk-on.

O’Hara joined the team during the spring semester and could potentially be leaving before playing a single season in Iowa City. Though he’s in the transfer portal, he is allowed to return if it’s his best option.

O’Hara had several FCS offers, as well as FBS offers from UTSA and Akron. He passed on all of those opportunities initially to join the Hawkeyes. As an Iowa native and a fan of the program, he called the opportunity to play under Kirk Ferentz “a dream come true.”

There was no indication regarding where O’Hara could wind up.
