Report: NCAA makes decision on Iowa transfer WR Oliver Martin
Iowa fans have no reason to complain about the NCAA.
On Wednesday afternoon, the Hawkeyes received great news on former four-star and Michigan wide receiver Oliver Martin, who was granted immediate eligibility by the NCAA. Kirk Ferentz said during his press conference Tuesday that, if eligible, Martin will be on the field.
That’s a significant addition for Iowa, which had some concerns about depth at the wide receiver position coming into the 2019 season. Martin obviously adds some nice depth to the group, but is also extremely talented.
Chad Leistikow of the Des Moines Register first reported the news.
Martin spent two seasons at Michigan as a member of the 2017 recruiting class before transferring back to his hometown. He played in all 13 games for the Wolverines last season, totaling 11 receptions for 125 yards and a touchdown during UM’s 10-3 campaign.

Michigan head coach Jim Harbaugh called Martin’s transfer decision “a surprise.”
Iowa will open the season against Miami (OH) at Kinnick Stadium on Saturday. The Hawkeyes are coming off a 9-4 season and are expected to be contenders in the B1G West.
This is even more reason to be confident in the Hawkeyes in 2019.
