Sacramento Kings announce status update for Keegan Murray
Keegan Murray will make his NBA debut in Saturday’s game against the Los Angeles Clippers. The Sacramento Kings announced the news Saturday morning.
The much-anticipated start will be the first for the former Iowa star and 4th overall pick in the 2022 NBA Draft. Murray has been held back due to the team’s health and safety protocols and didn’t play in the season opener on Wednesday against the Portland Trail Blazers.

Murray was unable to practice previously, and head coach Mike Brown was not comfortable with Murray playing before he had time to practice. Murray was been cleared after a week under the protocols and was able to fully practice Friday in Sacramento leading to the ability to return on Saturday night.
Murray’s career began at Iowa, where he was not highly recruited out of high school in his home state Michigan. He found his niche on the Hawkeye court, averaging 23.5 points, 8.7 rebounds, 1.3 steals and 1.9 blocks. Murray is considered by many to be a contender for the NBA Rookie of the Year award.
