Sam LaPorta was forced to leave the Detroit Lions’ Week 3 game against the Arizona Cardinals with an apparent leg injury.

As you can see below, LaPorta was taken to the locker room on a cart with 17 seconds remaining in the 1st half:

LaPorta appeared to suffer the injury while blocking for Jahmyr Gibbs near the end zone. Shortly after Gibbs scored, LaPorta looked to get tangled up with a Cardinals defender.

To that point, LaPorta had totaled 2 catches for 36 yards, including one for 24 yards. For the season, he has 8 catches for 94 yards.

The second-year player out of Iowa, a second-round pick in 2023, had a terrific rookie season, totaling 86 catches for 889 yards and 10 touchdowns. He was a second-team All-Pro selection and appeared in the Pro Bowl after the regular season.

If LaPorta is out for any length of time, it’s a big blow for the Lions offense. They do have a 20-10 halftime lead over the Cardinals at State Farm Stadium.
