Sam LaPorta status: Detroit Lions release availability report for Wild Card game
Sam LaPorta has been cleared as good to go for Sunday’s Wild Card game!
The status of the star tight end for the Detroit Lions was up in the air leading into the game after an ugly knee injury in the regular-season finale. Fortunately, he will be active for the NFL playoffs as the Lions face the Los Angeles Rams in Detroit.
When the Lions released their list of inactive players, LaPorta’s name was notably not included, paving the way for the Iowa product to make his playoff debut Sunday night:

LaPorta appeared to be trending toward playing with head coach Dan Campbell revealing an optimistic update during the week. At the time, Campbell said the TE had “an outside shot” of playing if things trended in a positive direction.
LaPorta may still be limited when the game rolls around, but he is a difference-maker when on the field. He was second on the Lions with 86 catches for 889 yards this season while tying for the team lead with 10 receiving touchdowns.
