Spencer Lee put on a show during Iowa’s Friday night wrestling match against Nebraska. The only (possible) downside to it all is that Lee’s show was over in the blink of an eye.

Facing No. 7 Liam Cronin on his home mat, Lee recorded his 5th straight pin of the season. Even more remarkable, Lee’s pin after locking up a cradle came just 38 seconds into the matchup. It is Lee’s fastest pin of the season but just the third-fastest of his Hawkeye wrestling career.

The win makes Lee a perfect 9-0 on the season and continues a streak of 47 consecutive wins dating back to the 2018-19 wrestling season. Discussing the matchup, Lee pointed out he’s not hunting pins during his current streak but has been finding theml due to wrestling hard.

“We work on those positions and they just happen to be falling into those cradles,” said Lee. “Once you get a guy in a position to put him away, you gotta put him away. That’s what we preach, and that’s the plan is to wrestle hard for 7 minutes, every position…

“I’m not a big cradle guy… But, you fall into things when you wrestle hard. I always tell myself pins come when you wrestle hard.”

Iowa went on to win the dual 34-6 over Nebraska.
