Spencer Petras opens scoring vs. Colorado State with huge throw to Keagan Johnson
Iowa is off and running against Colorado State, and the first score of the game came off the arm of quarterback Spencer Petras.
Facing a 2nd-and-10 on their third drive of the game, the Hawkeyes put things together and rolled past midfield. That is when Petras dialed up an incredible throw down the sideline that found Keagan Johnson behind the defense.
Petras found Johnson running in stride and behind the defense with a beautiful pitch-and-catch. It went for 43 yards and the opening points of the game:

Hopefully, Petras has some more throws like that in store for Saturday’s game. He is 4-for-6 with 58 yards and a touchdown to open the game.
