Tim Lester has big plans for the Iowa offense, and the new offensive coordinator met with the media on Tuesday to share his priorities.

“We’re going to be a physical football team,” he said. “We’re going to be disciplined, and we’re going to be aggressive. We’re going to be aggressive in everything we do. From run game, to pass game, to keepers, to RPOs, tempos. One thing I’ve learned in my time as a former quarterback, quarterback coach, offensive coordinator, head coach at pretty much every level, it’s about putting your players in the best position to succeed.”

Lester spent last season as a senior analyst for the Green Bay Packers. He was expected to take on a coordinator role at Troy under new coach Gerad Parker, until Iowa came knocking. He has 22 years of coaching experience, including 12 years as a head coach at the Division I, II and III levels, and 12 years as an offensive coordinator.

Lester revealed that he’s only met a couple of players on the team, but he’s excited to get to work with all of them.

“It’s going to be a process, we’re excited to get started as soon as possible,” he said. “We start at the moment we hit the ground running. … I have a saying: RBO. Relationship Before Opportunity. I’ll have a great opportunity coach these young men once I have a relationship with them.”
