Iowa crossed into the state of Kansas to land its most recent commitment.

On Tuesday evening, the Hawkeyes received a verbal pledge from three-star athlete Arland Bruce IV out of Olathe, Kansas. He’s listed as the No. 4 player from his home state and is the 13th player of the 2021 recruiting class to commit to the program. Bruce selected Iowa over offers from Iowa State, Tulsa and Western Illinois.

“Words can’t describe how grateful I am to be in this position,” Bruce wrote in a message on Twitter. “After a very thought-through decision with my family, I am excited to announce I’m committed to the University of Iowa.”

Bruce is a 5-foot-10, 185-pound athlete who is listed as one of the top 700 players in this year’s class, according to 247Sports. He’s also ranked as the No. 58 athlete of 2021. Bruce is the lone Kansas prospect to be currently committed to Iowa.

Iowa’s 2021 recruiting class is off to a hot start, as it now has 13 pledges. The Hawkeyes rank sixth nationally and are second in the B1G, behind only Ohio State.
