Tory Taylor has already captured the Ray Guy Award as the top punter in college football. During the Citrus Bowl, Iowa’s star special teams performer captured another FBS record.

With an early punt against Tennessee, Taylor shattered the FBS record for most punt yards in a single season. That record was originally set in 1938 by Johnny Pingel at Michigan State with 4,138 punting yards.

Taylor has not been short on opportunities this season with the Hawkeye offense struggling to epic proportions. However, his leg has been next level with consistent boomers and pinpoint accuracy for Iowa.

Taylor averaged a career-high 47.9 yards per punt this season entering the bowl game. He has 4 games averaging at least 50+ yards per punt, including a dramatic outing at Penn State when he averaged 52.3 yards on 7 punts.

Taylor’s first 3 punts in the Citrus Bowl averaged 54.7 yards, including a long of 62 yards and 1 downed inside the 20-yard line. Needless to say, Taylor’s NFL future should be very bright in 2024 and beyond.
