Iowa’s second possession started in disastrous fashion, but the Hawkeyes were able to overcome a mental mistake and still find pay dirt.

On the kickoff, Iowa return man Ihmir Smith-Marsette caught the ball at the 1-yard line while stepping out of bounds immediately. So, the Hawkeyes started the drive in the shadow of their own goalposts, hoping just to avoid a safety. But a few big plays later, Iowa was able to put a six-spot on the scoreboard.

The Hawkeyes turned that mental error into a 15-play, 99-yard drive to tie the game at 7-7 in the first quarter. It was capped by this impressive 20-yard run by Akrum Wadley.

Wadley entered the contest with 862 yards and six touchdowns this season. He ranked seventh in rushing yardage in the B1G heading into the final weekend of the season.
