San Francisco is a long way from Iowa City, but two former Hawkeyes feel right at home in the Bay Area.

Those two former Iowa stars are quarterback C.J. Beathard and tight end George Kittle, who used to team up for big time touchdowns in the B1G. Now, they’re doing it in the NFC West with the 49ers.

In the third quarter of Sunday’s matchup between the 49ers and Chargers, that old Iowa connection hooked up for a long touchdown, as Beathard found Kittle wide open in the middle of the field for an 82-yard touchdown.

Beathard and Kittle made it look way too easy.

Both Beathard and Kittle finished with big days for the 49ers. Beathard completed 23-of-37 passes for 298 yards and a pair of touchdowns. He also had two interceptions.

Kittle finished the game as the team’s leading receiver, hauling in six catches for 125 yards and a touchdown.

The efforts of the former Hawkeyes wasn’t quite enough, as the 49ers fell to the Chargers 29-27. But at least they got an incredible highlight out of the game.
