The start to the 2018 season has been a good one for the Iowa Hawkeyes.

Maybe once Kirk Ferentz retires, he’ll be able to appreciate the team’s first win of the year even more. Because right now, though he likes to deflect his accomplishments, he is the all-time winningest coach in Iowa history.

The Hawkeyes defeated Northern Illinois 33-7 Saturday afternoon and with that, Ferentz got his 144th career win at Iowa, passing Hayden Fry’s 143 victories.

After the 26-point victory over an unranked, non-conference foe, Iowa’s locker room was as loud as ever.

Hint: It wasn’t because the team is 1-0. It’s because of Ferentz.

Hopefully your volume wasn’t up too high for that one. That was one loud locker room.
