WATCH: Incoming Iowa class takes part in college football's best tradition
Iowa received a great amount of respect last year after implementing the greatest new tradition in college football, as players, coaches and fans wave to children at the nearby Stead Family Children’s Hospital at the end of the first quarter.
Over the weekend, a brand new group of Hawkeyes got to take part in the amazing tradition.
Friday night, as the University of Iowa welcomed thousands of incoming students, the soon-to-be freshmen gathered at Kinnick Stadium for a large group photo. And while on the field, they had the opportunity to wave at the patients in the Children’s Hospital.
Even though it wasn’t a football Saturday, it was still a really cool sight.

Those new Iowa students got just a taste of how special that feeling is.
College football’s best tradition returns on Saturday, Sept. 1 when the Hawkeyes host Northern Illinois at Kinnick Stadium.
