WATCH: Iowa's Brandon Smith completes ridiculous catch behind defender's helmet
This will likely go down as one of the catches of the year in college football!
Iowa and Minnesota are dueling it out Saturday evening in what has turned into a hard-fought shootout. The Hawkeyes are looking to win their fourth straight in the series, but the Golden Gophers are hanging tough in the second half.
The end result is still to be decided, but this play by Iowa’s Brandon Smith will likely be the highlight of the game. On this third down play, Smith ran a go route past his defender on the outside. He had his man beat deep but the ball by QB Nate Stanley was under thrown.
Smith fought to get back to ball and earned a pass interference call on a Minnesota defender. That was good in itself, but Smith also completed the improbable catch for a huge gain.
