Jake Funk overcame two injuries during his college career at Maryland to get drafted to the NFL this year.

Now, he’s officially on an NFL roster.

Funk was named to the Los Angeles Rams’ 53-man roster Wednesday afternoon, capping off quite a journey to the NFL.

While at Maryland, Funk tore his ACL twice before earning Third Team All-B1G honors during his senior year. He rushed for 516 yards on 60 carries and found the end zone four times as the Terps went 2-3 in 2020.

Funk was selected by the Rams in the seventh round of the 2021 draft and saw action in two preseason games, rushing for 68 yards on 12 carries. He has an opportunity to make an impact on the roster, which took a hit at RB when Cam Akers tore his achilles and backup Raymond Calais had foot surgery.

The Rams will open the 2021 season on Sunday Night Football against the Chicago Bears on Sept. 12.
