Billy Edwards Jr. wasted no time making an impact as Maryland’s starting quarterback.

With Taulia Tagovailoa opting out of the Music City Bowl, Edwards stepped into the starting lineup for the Terrapins. He engineered a quick touchdown drive alongside Roman Hemby against Auburn’s defense during the offense’s first drive of the game.

The big blow came on a screen pass to Hemby. He torched the Tigers and nearly rolled all the way to the end zone but was eventually shoved out at the 2-yard line.

Edwards finished the drive with a quick touchdown run, a sight fans have grown used to seeing this season. Though the backup to Tagovailoa this year, Edwards has been used in short-yardage packages throughout the regular season and scored another rushing touchdown to open the game.

Hopefully, that’s a good sign of even bigger things to come from the Terps. Mike Locksley’s program is in search of a 3rd straight bowl win with the trip to Nashville.
