Bruno Fernando posted a double-double on Tuesday night, but none of his rebounds or buckets were bigger than his late-game tip-in to help Maryland knock off Iowa at Carver-Hawkeye Arena.

Maryland trailed 65-64 when Anthony Cowan Jr. drove to the bucket with :11 remaining in the game, trying to regain the lead for the Terrapins. But the layup fell off the basket and Fernando was able to tip the ball back into the basket to give the Terps a 66-65 lead with :07 left.

Iowa had two opportunities to get a game-winning bucket, but a three-point attempt from Jordan Bohannon and a follow-up miss from Isaiah Moss were both off the mark. The victory was Maryland’s second win over a ranked team in its last three outings.

Here’s the tip-in from Fernando:

Fernando had a big night, finishing with 11 points and 11 rebounds. Cowan led the Terrapins in scoring with 17 points for the contest. Eric Ayala was the only other Terp in double figures, also adding 11 points.

Iowa was led by Bohannon and Moss, who scored 14 and 12 points, respectively.

Maryland is now 11-5 in the B1G and holds a .5 game lead over Wisconsin for fourth place in the conference. Overall, the Terrapins are 20-7 on the year.

The Hawkeyes are 9-6 in the league and 20-6 for the season.
