Empire State Building lights up in Maryland's honor ahead of Pinstripe Bowl appearance
Maryland will be in a bowl game for the first time in 5 years as the team heads up to the Bronx to take on Virginia Tech in the New Era Pinstripe Bowl. This is the Terrapins’ first bowl appearance under head coach Mike Locksley in his 3rd season. Maryland finished the season 6-6 and 3-6 in B1G play.
The New Era Pinstripe Bowl is played in Yankee Stadium every year, an interesting quirk to see in Bowl Season to see 2 football teams play in a baseball stadium.
The Terrapins got a little treat on Tuesday night as the Empire State Building was lit up in red and gold for Maryland.

Virginia Tech had a disappointing 2021 season as the Hokies finished 6-6 and 4-4 in ACC play. They let go of head coach Justin Fuente after 6 seasons with the Hokies. Virginia Tech has hired former Penn State DC Brent Pry as its new head coach.
According to ESPN’s FPI, it only gives the Terrapins a 36.9% to beat the Hokies on Wednesday afternoon. You can read the full story here. Maryland faces Virginia Tech in the New Era Pinstripe Bowl on Dec. 29 at 2:15 pm ET on ESPN.
