ESPN's SP+ predicts final score of Maryland's game vs. Virginia
ESPN’s SP+ has weighed in on the Week 3 matchups with final score predictions with an outlook for a number of games across the country that includes Maryland’s home nonconference meeting against Virginia.
The two teams are former ACC rivals and used to square off on an annual basis in the league. However, this will be the first meeting between the two sides since the Terrapins left the ACC for the B1G.
While Tony Elliott is trying to rebuild the Cavs program, things in Charlottesville are not quite on the same level as Mike Locksley’s Terrapin program. That fact is evidenced in the projected score of the SP+.
Designed by Bill Connelly, the system is predicting Maryland to win a blowout by a final score of 34-11. The Terrapins are also given a 91% win probability for the matchup as they try to get to 3-0. While it’s important for Maryland to remain focused on the task at hand, there is a chance for the Terrapins to get off to an extremely hart start to 2023. After Virginia, Maryland will face Michigan State in the midst of a tumultuous season and then Indiana before a road trip vs. Ohio State.
