Maryland landed a huge commitment from the transfer market on Wednesday morning.

Former Auburn defensive end and five-star prospect Byron Cowart committed to the Terrapins on Wednesday. He was a top three prospect in the 2015 recruiting class and transferred out of Auburn midway through the season.

Cowart appeared in several games throughout his career at Auburn but struggled to live up to that five-star hype. He left the program with 15 total tackles and two stops for loss.

This is a huge addition for Maryland’s 2018 class, which was already ranked in the top 20 headed into the early signing period.  If Cowart is able to gain some momentum in College Park, he could be a force on that defensive line.
