One commitment for Maryland’s class of 2022 did not last long at all.

The player is Kobe Prentice, a wide receiver out of Calera, Alabama. Prentice originally committed to the Terrapins on June 30, but that decision lasted about two weeks.

Alabama offered the in-state product on July 1, leading Prentice to reevaluate his options. He eventually decommitted from Maryland and reopened his recruitment.

That led to Tuesday evening when Prentice made his new commitment known. This time, he selected the in-state Crimson Tide:

The decision, though understandable, is still a tough blow for the Terrapins and the 2022 recruiting class. According to the industry-generated Composite Rankings, Prentice is a three-star recruit for the cycle.

However, Prentice is a fast riser for 247 Sports. He is up to a four-star recruit on their rankings and is the No. 48 wide receiver nationally for 2022.
