Former Maryland quarterback Max Bortenschlager will be finishing his career at Florida International. Eric Henry of SB Nation reported the news on Tuesady.

Bortenschlager decided to enter his name in the NCAA transfer portal during the offseason. He had been a member of Maryland’s 2016 recruiting class and saw significant playing time in the 2017 season with the Terrapins because of injuries to Kasim Hill and Tyrrell Pigrome.

However, following the 2017 season, Bortenschlager did not throw a pass at Maryland. He joins FIU with two years of eligibility remaining and will be a graduate student, meaning he’ll be eligible to play in 2020.

During that 2017 season, Bortenschlager finished with 1,313 yards, 10 passing touchdowns and five interceptions. He also rushed for two touchdowns that season, but Maryland ended that year with a 4-8 record.

Bortenschlager also appeared in two games during the 2016 season, completing 16-of-33 pass attempts for 209 yards and a touchdown.
