Ex-Maryland wide receiver Carlos Carriere has found a new school to call home.

Friday, Carriere announced on Twitter his commitment to Central Michigan. The Alpharetta, Ga., native was a member of Maryland’s 2017 recruiting class, spending five years in College Park. He played under three different head coaches — DJ Durkin, Matt Canada and Mike Locksley.

Carriere was coming on strong at the end of the season and ended the 2021 campaign with 24 catches for 316 yards and 5 touchdowns. He caught a pass in each of Maryland’s final 5 regular season games and recorded a career afternoon in a 38-35 victory over Indiana, making 8 receptions for 134 yards and 2 touchdowns.

Over the course of his career at Maryland, Carriere totaled 480 receiving yards and 6 touchdowns on 38 catches. All of that came in the past three seasons.

Carriere will have one year of eligibility to use at Central Michigan.

Carriere was one of three Maryland receivers who made significant contributions in 2021 to enter the NCAA transfer portal. Darryl Jones and Brian Cobbs also announced their intention of the year.

Jones totaled 319 yards and 2 touchdowns while Cobbs had 341 yards and a touchdown. The trio combined for 976 yards and 8 touchdowns for the season.

Maryland ended the year with a 7-6 record.
