The father of former Maryland football offensive lineman Ellis McKennie has been hospitalized and diagnosed with coronavirus. The former Terrapin sent out a tweet with the news on Monday.

“Please pray for my father,” McKennie said on Twitter. “He tested positive for covid-19 this morning. He was diagnosed with pneumonia last week but it got worse.”

Because of the situation, McKennie also said that his mother and sister are in quarantine.

“Luckily I haven’t been around him but my mom and sister are in quarantine while he is in the hospital,” McKennie tweeted. “All we can do is stay positive and pray.”

McKennie played his last season with the Terrapins last year, earning 10 starts and was named an All-B1G honorable mention for the 2019 season. According to 247Sports, McKennie is enrolled in George Washington University law school.
