Smith made the announcement official with a post on Instagram.

The 6-foot-9 forward is listed as a graduate transfer, meaning he’ll be immediately eligible for the 2020-21 season in College Park. He will fill a void left by Jalen Smith, who decided to declare for the NBA Draft following his sophomore season with the Terrapins.

Last season, Smith averaged 3.1 points, 2.5 rebounds and 0.8 blocks per game for Alabama. He appeared in 31 contests and made seven starts, averaging 13.1 minutes per game.

Maryland is coming off a season in which it shared the B1G regular season title. The Terps were 24-7 on the season and 14-6 in B1G play.
