Former Maryland football player David Mackall was killed in a shooting that occurred in Baltimore, according to reports.

The Baltimore Sun reported that Mackall was shot and killed on Wednesday in a Baltimore-area neighborhood. Officers responded to reports of a shooting and found Mackall suffering from gunshot wounds.

Mackall was taken to a nearby hospital where he died from his injuries. He was 28 years old and was the father of two children.

Mackall played football at Maryland in 2010 and 2011 before transferring to the University of Delaware to complete his career in 2012 and 2013. In his two years with the Terrapins, he appeared in 20 games, making 48 tackles, six sacks and an interception.

There have been no suspects named in the shooting, according to reports.
