Indianapolis Colts place former Maryland DE on IR ahead of Week 17
A former Maryland DE has been placed on the injured reserve list by the Indianapolis Colts, per ESPN’s Adam Schefter.
Yannick Ngakoue, who also plays DE for the Indianapolis Colts, is done for the season after being hit in the throat during this week’s game against the Los Angeles Chargers. The injury means the Ngakoue will miss the rest of the season, but it’s an even bigger loss for the Colts. Ngakoue leads the team with 95 sacks this season, along with 29 total tackles.
This will be a tough blow for the Colts and Ngakoue’s impact will be missed on the field.

Ngakoue was drafted by the Jacksonville Jaguars in the sixth round of the 2016 Draft, playing out all four years of his freshman contract in Jacksonville. The DE spent time with the Vikings, Ravens, and Raiders before finding a home in Indianapolis in 2022.
The Colts play the New York Giants on Sunday at 1 p.m. ET on CBS.
