Jahmir Young, Maryland’s top player from last season, made a long-awaited announcement Tuesday evening. Instead of entering the NBA Draft or transferring, Young announced that he would be staying at Maryland for the 2023-24 season for his 5th season in college basketball.

Young, a former Charlotte transfer, shined during his first year in College Park. He averaged 15.8 points per game last season on just under 42% shooting from the field.

Young turned it up a notch once B1G play rolled around. He shot 38% from range, one of the top marks in the conference, while also remaining a top-notch defender. The 2nd team All-B1G point guard returning is truly huge news for the Terrapins.

Maryland now awaits the decision of Donta Scott and Hakim Hart, who are also eligible to return for a 5th year in college hoops.
