Kevin Willard liked what he saw from Maryland’s Jahmir Young in the win over Omaha. Willard highlighted changes he would like to see from the guard’s game moving forward in the post game presser.
Maryland handled its business against Western Carolina, winning 71-51. Young was second on the team in scoring against the Catamounts with 16 points. Willard was impressed with Young’s aggressiveness in grabbing rebounds.
Young had 5 total rebounds when it was all said and done. However, Willard wants to see Young get better at facilitating.
“That’s him as a player,” said Willard. “When he first started with me, he was a little passive. He’s still figuring out when to pass and not to pass.”
Willard wants Young, who only had one assist, to improve as a facilitator. He envisions Young being a player who can average five assists per game. “He’s still figuring out when to pass and not to pass.”

Young transferred to Maryland this season after spending the first few years of his college career at Charlotte.
Young and forward Julian Reese are looking like a solid 1-2 punch through two games. Maryland may need to call both their numbers to have success this season.
