Maryland has looked awfully good so far to start 2019.

Maryland is now 2-0 after crushing both Howard and Syracuse in the first two weeks. Howard, it was expected. Syracuse by 43 points, though? That was not expected.

On Monday, ESPN’s Kirk Herbstreit talked about the Terps and their start on his podcast:

“The most surprising [result] probably was how dominant Maryland has looked in two weeks. They, of course, had a nice win to open the season to kind of get things started, but from what we saw last week, we thought, ‘OK, Syracuse might potentially be going to GameDay up at Syracuse for the big Clemson game [this weekend]. They battled Clemson the last couple of years. But before that they’ve got a tussle with Maryland that they’ve got to take care of before they get to that.’ And [Maryland] just went out and dominated that game,” Herbstreit said of Maryland’s 62-20 win over the 21st-ranked Orange.

“So I think the way Maryland has played in these first two weeks — I think they scored 79 in the first week, I don’t even care who you’re playing. The next week they come up with 63 against Syracuse.”

We’ll see if Maryland can keep it going in Week 3 when the Terrapins travel to Temple for a noon kickoff on Saturday. According to mybookie.ag, the Terps are favored by nine points.
