Mike Locksley continues to flex his muscle on the recruiting front.
Sunday, Maryland received a verbal pledge from 6-foot, 195-pound running back Roman Hemby, a native of Bel Air, Maryland. He becomes the ninth in-state pledge for Locksley and Co. in the 2021 recruiting class, and the 19th commit.
Hemby made his announcement official with a post on social media. The 3-star ball carrier received offers from nearly two dozen programs.

In addition to Maryland, Hemby received offers from Power 5 programs like Boston College, Duke, Indiana, Michigan State, NC State, Pitt, Virginia and others. But the 3-star back is choosing to stay close to home for his college career.
According to 247Sports, Hemby is one of the top 50 overall prospects out of the state of Maryland and ranks as the No. 117 running back in the class. He’s also listed as an athlete, meaning he could potentially fill a different role with the Terrapins.
Locksley and his staff have worked hard to assemble a strong 2021 recruiting class. Currently, Maryland ranks 19th nationally in the recruiting rankings, which includes a spot at No. 4 in the B1G.
