Scott Van Pelt has long been one of the most popular and well-known alumni of Maryland, and he will be returning to the Washington D.C. area in 2020.

It was first reported on Friday by John Ourand with Sports Business Daily that SVP is relocating to the D.C. area. According to Ourand’s report, ESPN’s midnight broadcast of SportsCenter, of which Van Pelt is the host, is being relocated to the area. It will be based in the same studio that also airs ESPN’s PTI show.

The report also indicates Van Pelt was seeking the move from Bristol, Connecticut in order to be closer to his aunt and almost 80-year-old mother. It will be his first permanent return to the region he grew up in over 25 years.

On Friday afternoon, Van Pelt responded to the report with a graphic on Twitter:

Hopefully, it will also give SVP a bit more time to catch his Terps in action!
