Friday night’s game between Maryland and Penn State in College Park is officially a sellout, according to a statement made by the Maryland athletic department.

Maryland announced Wednesday morning that Friday night’s game is officially sold out. The matchup between No. 12 Penn State and the Terrapins will serve as the B1G opener for both teams. The Nittany Lions are 3-0 and the Terps are 2-1 on the season so far.

It will also be a “Blackout” game, as fans of Maryland are encouraged to wear black to “The Shell,” the new moniker of Maryland Stadium.

Maryland has been an early season sensation, blowing out Howard and Syracuse to start the year 2-0. Things were slightly derailed in a road game against Temple and the Terrapins dropped to 2-1 after loss.

Still, there’s a lot of excitement about the way the team is playing through the first three weeks of the season.

Penn State has dominated the head-to-head series, winning 39 of the 42 matchups. Maryland has won just two games and there’s been one tie. The Terrains’ last victory came in 2014. The Nittany Lions have won the last two games by a combined score of 104-6.

It should be a fun environment in College Park on Friday.
