Maryland quarterback Taulia Tagovailoa will reportedly get the start in the Terrapins’ opener vs Northwestern on Saturday night.

That’s according to Emily Giambalvo of the Washington Post, who cites a team spokesman.

Of course, Tagovailoa is the younger brother of former Alabama quarterback Tua Tagovailoa. He transferred to Maryland from Alabama earlier in the offseason.

Tagovailoa won the job over redshirt freshman Lance LeGendre. Last season, LeGendre appeared in three games and was mostly a factor on the ground, rushing for 104 yards on 13 carries.

Tagovailoa, a sophomore, also played in limited action last season. He completed 9-of-12 passes for 100 yards.

It’s a big moment for the Tagovailoa family, as his older brother is slated to make his first career NFL start for the Miami Dolphins on Sunday.

Maryland’s game vs Northwestern will kick off at 7:30 p.m. ET on the Big Ten Network.
