Maryland announces team captains for Week 2 matchup
Maryland has announced three captains for its Week 2 matchup vs. Howard.
Leading the Terps will be defensive end Tez Rogers, tight end Chigoziem Okonkwo and kicker Joseph Petrino.

Maryland is coming off of an impressive victory at home over West Virginia last week. The Terps got huge performances from quarter Taulia Tagovailoa, running back Tayon Fleet-Davis, receiver Dontay Demus and receiver Rakim Jarrett. Tagovailoa passed for 332 yards and 3 touchdowns while each of those skill players surpassed 120 yards from scrimmage.
Okonkwo also made an impact last week, catching 3 passes for 20 yards and 1 touchdown. Rogers made 3 tackles and Petrino made 3 of his 4 field goal attempts in the victory.
Last week’s captains were senior receivers Brian Cobbs and Dontay Demus Jr., and senior defensive end Sam Okuayinonu
Maryland is hoping to make its first bowl game this season since 2016 when the Terps went 6-7. Maryland hasn’t won seven or more games since 2014.
