Maryland will have state-of-the-art LED lighting upgrades at SECU Stadium this fall, the school announced on Monday.

The Terrapins’ new system is provided by Musco Lighting, the custom-designed Total Light Control—TLC for LED system  with color-changing lights and a variety of Show-Light Pro Venue special effects features.

“As we continue to invest in our facilities and athletic programs at Maryland, we are excited to introduce a new, state-of-the-art lighting system at SECU Stadium debuting this fall for Terp football,” said Damon Evans, the Director of Athletics. “These lights will enhance the entire game experience including increased visibility for the players and fans alike along with energizing special effects technology for our games.”

Choreographed LED lighting sequences will be added to key moments during games. These moments will include the team’s intro sequence prior to kickoff, key in-game situations, such as Maryland touchdowns or defensive takeaways and in conjunction with other special elements during commercial timeouts.

The Terps are coming off back-to-back winning seasons and will play their first 3 games of this season at home. Maryland will play Towson at SECU Stadium on Sept. 2 at 3:30 p.m. on Big Ten Network.

The new lighting system will then be prominently featured the following two weeks as the Terps have nationally-televised night games against Charlotte (Sept. 9 / 7:30 p.m. on NBC) and Virginia (Sept. 15 / 7 p.m. on FS1).
