Maryland came into the Iowa game on Friday night undefeated and 4-0, and there was talk of a potential upset spot for the Hawkeyes.

That notion was squashed in a hurry as No. 5 Iowa put the beat down on Maryland, winning 51-14.

The Hawkeye defense had a whopping 7 turnovers against the Terrapins Friday night. This is the 27th game in a row the Hawkeye defense has held an opponent to 24 points or fewer.

Maryland’s offense in 3 of the 4 games prior to Iowa had scored 30 or more points. In both B1G games the Terrapins have scored 20 points or less.

Head coach Mike Locksley addressed the team after their disappointing performance.

Maryland still has four AP Top-25 opponents on the schedule. The Terrapins face No. 11 Ohio State, No. 4 Penn State, No. 17 Michigan State and No. 14 Michigan.

QB Taulia Tagovailoa had an off night as he was 16-of-29 for a 55 percent completion rate, throwing for 157 yards, 2 touchdowns and 5 interceptions.

Before last night Tagovailoa had only 1 interception on the year.

Next week Maryland goes on the road to take on No. 11 Ohio State in the shoe at noon ET on FOX.
