Maryland earns commitment from highly-touted athlete out of North Carolina

Maryland added an intriguing prospect to its 2024 recruiting class on Sunday.

The Terps picked up a commitment from athlete Josiah Mclaurin. He had offers from programs such as Pittsburgh, Georgia Tech and App State, amongst others.

Here’s his announcement:

Mclaurin’s recruitment moved quickly once he earned an offer from the Terps back on May 26 — less than a month ago.

He has gone under-the-radar nationally to this point in the recruiting process. He does not currently have a 247Sports Composite ranking. However, that could change in the coming months before the end of this cycle.

Mclaurin attends Clinton High School in Clinton, North Carolina. He’s listed at 6-foot, 180 pounds.

Mclaurin is listed as an athlete, but it appears he will be used as a wide receiver at the next level. Maryland receivers coach Gunter Brewer is his primary recruiter.

Maryland is now up to 8 commits in the class of 2024. The group ranks No. 71 in the country, per 247Sports Composite rankings.
