Maryland opened Early Signing Day with a bang, flipping an athlete prospect away from an ACC pledge and to the Terrapins.

The player is Tamarcus Cooley, a 3-star prospect out of Rolesville, North Carolina. Cooley had been committed to NC State since July but flips to the Terrapins and Mike Locksley’s program to open the Early Signing Period.

Listed at 6-foot and 195 lbs., Cooley is rated as the No. 83 safety prospect by the 247 Sports Composite Rankings but did play both WR and DB in high school. Cooley is also rated as the No. 955 prospect in the country for the class of 2023, becoming Maryland’s fifth highest-rated prospect in the cycle.
