Maryland’s Rakim Jarrett has put up a huge first half against Penn State, putting his name alongside a Terps legend in the process.
In Week 3 against the Nittany Lions, Jarrett is already up to five catches for 144 yards and two touchdowns. Oh, and that is all before halftime.
Though Jarrett had not scored coming into Saturday’s game, everyone knew it was just a matter of time for the talented 5-star recruit. Now, Jarrett is off and running – literally – against Penn State.
Even though he has the second half of action to pile up the numbers, Jarrett is already the first true freshman player for Maryland to record 100 yards receiving in a game since Stefon Diggs:
.@RakimJarrett is the first Terps true freshman to have 100 yards receiving and two TDs in a game since… @stefondiggs.

Diggs accomplished that in 2012 with 113 receiving yards and two touchdowns during his fourth game played for the Terrapins. Diggs would go on to finish his career with 2,227 receiving yards, good for second on Maryland’s all-time list.
Can Jarrett catch Diggs? Only time will tell, but it is good to see him flex his talent in a big way against Penn State.
