Maryland’s 2022 recruiting class has added a quarterback.

On Monday, the Terrapins received some good news, landing a verbal commitment from 3-star dual-threat quarterback Jayden Sauray. The Upper Marlboro, Maryland native held seven other offers on the table. He becomes the ninth player in the 2022 class to commit to Mike Locksley’s squad.

According to 247Sports, Sauray told Maryland he planned to commit to the program, but he made it official this week.

Sauray earned the starting job at Dr. Wise High School in Maryland as a sophomore in 2019, leading the team to an undefeated season and a state championship. He threw for 1,988 yards, rushed for 402 more and accounted for 41 total touchdowns while tossing just 5 interceptions.

It was his first full season as a starter.

Sauray ranks as the No. 12 dual-threat quarterback in the 2022 recruiting class and is a Top 20 prospect out of Maryland. Nationally, the QB comes in at No. 620.

Maryland beat Boston College, Ole Miss, Virginia Tech and West Virginia at the Power 5 level for Sauray’s pledge. Other programs to extend an offer include Buffalo, Marshall an Old Dominion.

With Sauray’s commitment, Maryland’s 2022 recruiting class ranks 5th in the B1G and 22nd nationally.
