Maryland lands in top-5 for elite 4-star Edge prospect out of North Carolina
Maryland is hoping for some good news on the recruiting trail after making the top-5 cut for an impressive defensive prospect.
The player is Rico Walker, a 6-foot-3 and 233 lb. prospect out of Hickory, North Carolina. Walker has made impressive plays on both sides of the ball throughout high school – as a defender and as a wideout – but is rated as a 4-star Edge prospect for the class of 2023.

According to the 247 Sports Composite Rankings, Walker is a 4-star recruit and the No. 23 Edge prospect in the nation. He’s also the No. 4 prospect out of North Carolina and No. 178 overall prospect regardless of position in the nation.
Maryland’s 2023 recruiting class is up to 13 total commitments. None of the players in that current group have reached a 4-star rating.
