The Maryland defense received a tough blow this morning with the news that linebacker Abner Logan will miss the 2015 season after a non-contact injury to his anterior cruciate ligament.

Maryland coach Randy Edsall tweeted the news about the junior:

Logan played in the final seven games of last season and recorded five tackles after he was suspended by the university for the first six contests.

As recently as Monday, new defensive coordinator Keith Dudzinski said he was excited to see what Logan could do.

The former four-star recruit was expected to compete for a starting job in Maryland’s new 4-3 defensive front. Without Logan, Maryland will look to improve on the Big Ten’s 12th-ranked run defense.
