Memes come and go in the world of media and pop culture. The sports world has been using memes for a long time since social media has been popular. Even sports teams and athletes are using them to gain views and attention.
On Saturday, the Maryland Terrapins defeated the West Virginia Mountaineers at home 30-24. The Terrapins got a big push in the fourth quarter by outscoring the Mountaineers 10-3. Maryland starting quarterback Taulia Tagovailoa threw for 332 yards and three touchdowns on 26 completions (out of 36 passing attempts).
On social media, Tagovailoa’s performance was not the biggest attraction from the big game. After the Terrapins defeated the Mountaineers, they posted on their Twitter page that refers to Drake’s new album, Certified Lover Boy. Instead of the emoji of the pregnant women, Maryland’s Twitter page photoshopped a Mountaineers’ helmet on the emoji and renamed the album, Certified Loser Boys.

The album by Drake is the newest and most popular meme on social media due to the success in streaming and the bizarre choice of art. The post by the Terrapins currently has 13.1 thousand likes on Twitter. This post is Maryland’s way of staying relevant in the field of social media while taking a victory shot over the Mountaineers.
