Maryland quarterback Taulia Tagovailoa had a breakout game vs. Minnesota in Week 2, and the analytics community took notice.

According to Pro Football Focus, Tagovailoa was one of the five best passers in college football this week:

Tagovailoa was sensational on Friday in an upset victory over the Gophers. He completed 26 of 35 passes for 394 yards and three touchdowns. He also rushed the ball eight times for 59 yards and two more scores.

It was an important redemption performance from the Alabama transfer after he threw three interceptions in a Week 1 loss to Northwestern.

Despite those struggles, coach Mike Locksley decided to stick with Tagovailoa and that decision paid off in Week 2. If Tagovailoa can keep up that level of consistency, the Terrapins should be competitive this season.

Tagovailoa and the Terps are back in action on Saturday at Penn State at 3:30 p.m. ET.
